Alexander Stewart

Alexander Stewart, the singer, enjoyed a successful international tour career during his studio hiatus since the release his debut album All Or Nothing At All (ASM001). Stewart and Dionne Warwick toured the UK in 2012 with Stewart. Since then, Stewart has played at countless European festivals that have sold out their audiences. After gaining a large fan base, Stewart recorded The Live Session in German. He headlined two shows in Macau with the Count Basie Big Band, China last year, and also performed with the HR Big Band, Germany. Stewart is regarded as “one of the most precociously gifted vocalists his generation” and his selection of material is heavily influenced by his acknowledgement of standards and popular music, both live and on record. This album is no exception. This ambitious project is the result of Stewart’s ability and willingness to work with others to create original material. Stewart has worked hard over two years to develop his skills and he also has a team of top musicians and arrangers from Europe and the UK. I Thought About You features a stellar lineup that includes Stewart’s touring band, Rob Barron, Rob Anstey, Andy Chapman, and Freddie Gavita, a trumpet player. Grammy-award winning producer Steve Price recorded the impressive live big band at Angel Studios. It features a wide range of UK jazz talent, including ‘Alastair white, Andy Panayi, and Callum Au. Stewart is able to lead some powerful musical collaborations with The City of Prague Philharmonic (who appear on seven tracks). The album features 12 tracks that include new versions of timeless songs such as Jackie Wilson’s “The Sweetest Feeling” and Dusty Springfield’s “The Look Of Love”. The opening track is a powerful orchestral mambo featuring a Stevie Wonder song (“Part Time Lover”), which is a stunning orchestral mambo. Four original compositions by Stewart (including one co-written with Alex Webb), are a great example of Alexander’s growth as an artist and songwriter. Stewart delivers with conviction a complete reimagining Sinatra’s classic “I Thought About You” as its centrepiece. Recorded in London and Prague, the album was arranged primarily by Rob Barron, Freddie Gavita and Freddie Gavita. Mixing was done by Darren Williams and mastering was done at Abbey Road Studios in London by Geoff Pesche. from http://alexanderstewart.net
