Alyn Cosker is a well-known drummer, musician, and recording artist who was born in Ayr. He graduated from Glasgow’s Strathclyde University with a BA in applied music and was a regular member of the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra. Alyn has been a part of many professional musicians around the globe through the SNJO and his solo music career. Tommy Smith, Jim Mullen and Larry Carlton are just a few of the many names that Alyn has worked with. Alyn is not only involved in jazz, but his love of music and musical diversity have taken him around the globe with many different artists. Alyn is one of the UK’s most versatile drummers. He has performed with the SNJO in New York and worked with Eddi reader in Osaka (Japan). He is passionate about music and has had the opportunity to create music with many well-known artists such as Capercaille (Michael Mcgoldrick), Karen Matheson, Wolfstone (Eddi Reader), Maeve Mackinnon, Duncan Lyall, Angus Lyons, Hue And Cry, Hue And Cry, and Maeve Mackinnon. Alyn released “Lyn’s Une”, his first solo album, in 2009 for Linn Records. He was joined by Ross Hamilton (Bass), David Dunsmuir(Guitar), and special guests. Alyn’s solo career has been developing and the album was a huge success.
