Andrew Distel

Andrew Distel, a Cincinnati native, has been a music lover his whole life. His parents were both music lovers and educators, so they encouraged their four sons learning to play a musical instrument. Andrew was the only Distel brother who took an interest in music. He learned to play the trumpet from his brother by copying Chuck Mangione records. In 5th grade, he joined the school band. He also began taking private music lessons. While he continued his music education and played in many bands during his time in public school, Distel also found the time to sing in several other choirs. While attending the College Conservatory of Music, Distel started gigging as a vocalist, trumpet player and bandleader in clubs. He moved to Chicago to complete his studies at Roosevelt University in 2000 after he graduated. He quickly established a reputation as a skilled trumpeter and a new, exciting male voice in jazz. He has performed with a variety of artists, including Ira Sullivan and the Ravinia Festival Orchestra. Distel’s 2007 debut album, Stepping Out of a Dream was received positive reviews and airplay around the globe. His second album, It only takes time, will be released in 2018. It features Grammy-award winners Peter Martin and Carlos Henriquez as well as Howard Levy, Jim Gailloreto, and is expected to arrive in 2018. From www.andrewdistel.com
