Angles is a Swedish Jazz Sextet consisting of Johan Berthling, Kjell Nordeson and Magnus Broo (drums), Johan Berthling (bass), Magnus Broo on the trumpet, Martin Kuchen (alto Saxophone), Mats Alklint (trombone), Mattias Steel (vibraphone). Their latest album, “Every Woman is a Tree”, was released by the group on Clean Feed (2008). Clean Feed describes Angles as “spanning the artificial divisions that were imposed between the new’ and old’ improvising school. His extended radical techniques such as the sonic use saliva are essential for the abstract and textural constructions found on his solo album, “Homo Sacer.” These techniques are more about sound than music, but Kuchen is an excellent free jazz player. Kuchen, the free jazz artist, is actually what we find on Every Woman is a Tree’. It is free jazz with a postbop twist that benefits from contributions by some of the most fascinating musicians on the Scandinavian music scene. Source: last.fm
