Few could have foreseen Tosin Abasi’s meteoric rise as a progressive rock/metal band when he released his first solo album in 2009 under the moniker ANIMALS ALEADERS. While Abasi was a well-respected guitarist in Washington, D.C.’s metalcore band Reflux, it was impossible to imagine an instrumental album of progressive rock with electronic, jazz and ambient flourishes that would attract a large following. Two years later, Weightless, the second album by the group, is now in print. ANIMALS as LEADERS has been hailed worldwide as a pioneering example of modern heavy metal music. The group’s unique compositions have been praised by many. Steve Vai described them as “the future of creative, hard-rocking guitar playing.” Guitar World Magazine featured Abasi twice on its cover during this album cycle, cementing his legend within the progressive music scene. Now, in 2014, ANIMALS AS LEADERS releases what will be hailed by media and fans alike as the group’s landmark career-defining release that will eventually redefine the progressive scene as we know. The group’s third full-length album is explosive, dynamic and innovative. It includes elements from all musical genres. It marks Matthew Garstka’s recording debut as drummer. His technical skills and unique style allow Abasi to push the boundaries of Abasi and Javier Reyes to new heights. Reyes stated that some of the tracks are among AAL’s best and most musically-sounding material. He was also extremely pleased with the outcome of the album. This album was produced by Navene Koperweis, Navene Koperweis, Adam Getgood (Periphery), Navene Kuperweis, Diego Farias and Adam Getgood. They are all extremely talented and I believe we did a fantastic job of capturing their talent onto the third ANIMALS as LEADERS album. from http://sumerianrecords.com
