Anita Gravine

It is amazing that Anita Gravine, who released I Always Knew in 1985, has not been recognized as a top jazz singer. She sang in the bands of Buddy Morrow, Larry Elgart and Urbie Green during the mid-’60s. In the early ’80s, Gravine made her solo appearance with Dream Dancing on Progressive; I Always Knew showcased her attractive voice, solid swing sense, and versatility. Her only jazz recording, Welcome to My Dream, was released in 1986 but never released on Jazz Alliance until 1993. It was a disappointment. Allmusic
