Antoine Pierre Urbex

Suspended is URBEX’ third repertoire. It also marks the debut live recording of this band, which was formed in 2014. The original repertoire was written by Antoine Pierre, the leader of the sextet. It is influenced by Miles Davis’ electric period and notably the album ‘Bitches Brew. The music of Suspended was recorded at Brussels’ iconic venue Flagey in January 2020, during the first public performance of the new music! It’s a blaze of sound and energy. It can be trance-like or it can fly to an amazing climax. Jean-Paul Estievenart plays trumpet, Bert Cools plays guitar, Bram De Looze plays piano, Felix Zurstrassen plays bass, Antoine Pierre plays drums, and Frederic Malempre plays percussion. Special guests include Ben Van Gelder, Reinier Baas, and Jozef dumoulin, who play Fender Rhodes. URBEX have played more than 50 concerts since 2015, including the Middelheim Jazz Festival, PBA (Be), Flagey(Be), Paradox(NL), Bimhuis/De), Altes Pfandhaus/De), Soleils Bleus Festival (Fr ),…).). Two albums were released by Igloo Records (“Urbex”) 2016, and “Sketches Of Nowhere (2018). Both albums were well received by critics as well as the general public. “Sketches Of Nowhere”, received the labels CHOC Jazz Magazine’, Indispensable JazzNews’ and ‘MUST SSF Jazz’ along with ‘Octave de la Musique 2018. from www.antoinepierremusic.com
