Ashley Summers

Ashley Summers, a Canadian-born Chicago artist, is a bassist, composer, and educator. Her talents have taken her to many stages around the globe. Summers is known for her lyrical style, punctuated with a sinewy urgency. Her artistic perspective is both inspiring and nostalgic. Summers brought her “glorious tone” (Jazzreview.com 2010), to the North Sea Jazz Festival and the Umbria Jazz Festival. Summers has also performed at venues across the US, including the Kennedy Center for the Arts in Brooklyn, the Lilypad Boston and Shapeshifter Lab in Brooklyn. Recent performances included special guests Aaron Goldberg and Corey Christiansen as well as Seamus Blake, Seamus Blake, Seamus Blake, Kenny Werner, and Leo Blanco. Summers has been performing with her own small and large ensembles for more than a decade to show her original music as well as the talent of her peers from Canada, the US, and Europe. Summers’ compositional style is characterized by evocative melodies and dynamic harmony derived from a wide range of musical influences. It is a captivating narrative that tells stories of hope, despair, resilience and mysticism. Summers recently released the title track to his upcoming album.
