Ayumi Tanaka

Ayumi Tanaka, Pianist/Composer Ayumi Tanaka was surrounded by beautiful mountains, such as here in Norway, in Wakayama Japan. When she was three years old, she began studying music at Yamaha Music School in Japan. She studied composition, performance, and arranging during her time there. She has been a part of several international concerts in Japan and Europe. She won the first prize in 2000 at Yamaha Junior Electone. She holds a Yamaha grade 3 license, which indicates that she is very skilled. She has been studying at the Norwegian Academy of Music’s Jazz improvised Music department since 2011. Her teachers are Misha Alperin and Helge Lien and Anders Jormin, as well as Kristin Fossheim, Ellen Ugelvik, as jazz teachers. As a professional pianist, she has her own trio, Ayumi Tanaka Trio (with Christian Meaas Svendsen, Per Oddvar Johansen), and other side projects. She is an educator as well as her professional career. In 2013, and 2014, she was invited to teach workshops for children at Oslo Jazz festival. She also teaches private lessons and leads group workshops at Barnas Jazzhus in Norway. She has a degree in Education from Wakayama University.
