The band draws on its global background (Greece. Argentina. Japan. Colombia, USA), and combines South American rhythms, jazz improvisation, cinematic arrangement, sophisticated audience participation, sophisticated audience participation, and mid-century classics. They also sing in six languages. Banda Magda was founded in New York in 2010. They have toured more than 22 countries on 5 continents. These musical friends transform Giannikou’s songs to engaging romps, earning them a spot at Carnegie Hall Musical Explorers Series, Snarky Puppy’s family dinner Vol.1 and performances at discerning venues such as WOMAD and Vancouver Jazz Festival.
