Batagraf is an ensemble of percussionists that began as a private research group and was not intended for performance. Ingar Zach, Helge Nordbakken, Kenneth Ekornes and Harald Skullerud were the initial members. After a few years, the invitations to perform increased and the group has been performing since 2004. However, they are still conducting research and have made group trips to The Gambia to visit Wolof players. The group invited sound poets Jaap Blonk, Sidsel Endesen, vocal groups such as Trondheim Voices, and standup comedians Espen Beranek Holm, Are Kalvo, to help them.
