The exciting new jazz ensemble Becoming Quintet features Eric Wortzman (trumpet), Markus Howell(alto sax/flute), Luther Allison (“piano”), Liany Mateo (“bass”) and Zach Adleman (“drums”). All members of the ensemble compose original music, with some selections from older and modern influences. The Becoming Quintet released their debut album, “One Track Mind”, on Posi-Tone Records, February 2019. They have performed at the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival and Cliff Bells. The group has won numerous awards and taken their music all over the globe. The group has been honored with acceptance into Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead program and the J.C Heard National Drum Competition. Members have been side musicians at After Parties at the Grammy’s and Carnegie Hall, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola and Blue Note with jazz legends Rodney Whitaker and Wynton Marsalis, Etienne Char, Christian McBride and Michael Dease. from www.detroitjazzfest.org
