Ben Wendel

Ben was born in Vancouver, and grew up in Los Angeles. He attended the Eastman School of Music in New York. He has had a diverse career as a performer and composer, as well as producer since his graduation. Highlights include numerous international and domestic tours with artists such as Ignacio Berroa (Cuban drumming legend), Tigran Hamasyan (Thelonius Monk) and Snoop Dogg (Electronica). Ben is a founder of Kneebody, a genre-bending band. Ben plays saxophone and doubles as a bassoonist and pianist. He has composed scores for many films and won an ASCAP Jazz Composer award. In 2007, he was also a winner of the 2007 International Songwriting Competition. Additionally, he was awarded the Chamber Music America “New Works Grant.” Ben had the honor of working with Kent Nagano to produce a series concerts for the Festpeil Plus in Munich. Winter recently signed one of the performances, a collaboration between Theo Bleckmann u0026 Kneebody featuring Charles Ives songs.
