Bendik Giske

Bendik Giske (NO/DE), is a queer artist, saxophonist, and queer musician who uses physicality and vulnerability as his means of expression. After the Adjust EP, which featured remixes from Total Freedom and Lotic as well as Rezzett’s Deathprod, Giske’s debut album Surrender was published on Smalltown Supersound in early 2019. Giske plays the basic building blocks of electronic music live, without looping or layering. He allows all the imperfections of being human to shine through. He draws on Evan Parker’s circular breathing and Lindstrom’s arpeggio sound sounds for inspiration. By combining these two extremes of the scale, Giske seamlessly blends freeform jazz with club music. Giske is a composer who has created original pieces for theatre and dance. He is also a versatile performer. Surrender is an enthralling debut that takes listeners on a journey through the euphoria, wanderlust, and nightlife of Berlin. He uses little other than his voice and saxophone as his instrument and a few microphones. Giske transforms his clubbing experience with the saxophone, using breath, steel, and muscle.
