Benoît Delbecq

Benoit Delbecq, a contemporary classically-trained pianist, helped revive Paris’s new music scene during the 1990s. He was a founder of many groups, including Painting (his quartet featuring Steve Arguelles), Kartet (since 1992), and the Hask Collective (with Noel Akchote and Arguelles). Delbecq also performed with Serge Adams’ two big bands, the Quoi de Neuf Docteur and Jazz Mic Mac, an African-influenced jazz project that toured central Africa. Many international jazz musicians have collaborated with Delbecq, including Evan Parker and Steve Lacy, Marc Ducret and Gianni Gebbia. Louis Sclavis and Francois Houle are also among them. Delbecq has recorded for numerous labels, including ADDA, Deux Z/Babel and Rectangle, DOC. BVHaast. Songlines, and many more. Delbecq is also a composer for film, theater, and dance.
