Bert Seager

Since 1981, Bert Seager, pianist and composer has been a major player in Boston’s jazz scene. He has been praised by the New York Times and Keyboard Magazine as well as The Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe, The Chicago Tribune and many other publications for his thirteen compact discs. He has toured extensively throughout the United States, as well as internationally, including 12 trips to Japan. He has recorded and performed with Joe Lovano and Tim Hagans, George Garzone and Bob Moses, Joe Hunt and Richie Barshay. He has performed on stage in various ensembles with Miroslav Vitous and George Mraz. Bert is a faculty member of the New England Conservatory of Music. Bert has been selected to reside at the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough for the past two years as a music composer. Bert was a National Endowment of the Arts grant recipient for jazz. He graduated from Haverford College in 1984 and received a masters degree at the New England Conservatory of Music. Bert’s teaching, compositions, and improvisations reflect an inward- and outward-looking perspective on life and music. His trio performs original music in a variety of styles.
