The 10-song collection of jazz interpretations by Allman Brothers Band songs celebrates the 50th anniversary of their debut album. Marc Broussard, Ruthie Foster, Wycliffe Gordon, and Jack Pearson, who perform on two songs, are featured on the set. Although jazz interpretations of Allman Brothers Band songs might seem surprising to some, they were a source of great inspiration for the band. Bob Beatty, a historian, wrote about Gregg Allman’s early days recalling that “Jaimoe,” the Allman Brothers Band drummer Jai Johanny Johanson, “turned all of us onto so many neat stuff. He taught us about jazz and introduced us to Miles Davis, John Coltrane and other great musicians. Kind of Blue was always on the turntable – Duane really got his head around that album – and he also seriously dug Coltrane’s My Favorite Things.” New West Records released the album on November 22nd, 2019. from www.blindambitionmgt.com
