Billy Mohler is a Grammy Nominated writer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. Mohler is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA. He studied Jazz Performance. Mohler was one of five people selected to join the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz. He studied and performed with jazz legends Herbie Hancock and Clark Terry, as well as Herbie Hancock and Clark Terry. Mohler was invited to perform in an ensemble that included Mohler, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Terri Lyn Carrongton, Giovanni Hildago, at the U.S. Department of State, Washington, D.C., for Madeline Albright’s birthday. Billy Mohler was a founding member and producer of The Calling on RCA Records. The Calling sold over 1,000,000 records and had great success. After leaving The Calling, Mohler joined Smashing Pumpkin’s drummer Jimmy Chamberlin to form The Jimmy Chamberlin Complex. They signed to Sanctuary Records, where they co-wrote and produced the group’s debut album. It featured Rob Dickenson (Catherine Wheel), Bill Medley (Righteous Brothers), and Billy Corgan (Smashing pumpkins). Fun fact: Bill Medley is Mohler’s godfather. Mohler joined Macy Gray’s group for a year, which included touring, writing, and recording. Mohler began to work with Aaron Bruno on the record that would become Awolnation. Mohler, who was also the original bassist for the group, wrote the lyrics and also played on the debut record. Mohler was an avid skateboarder and it was a great honor to be asked by Tony Hawk to serve as the musical director of his Boom Boom Huck Jam tour. Mohler orchestrated the music for the extreme sport’s show, leading a five-piece band that traveled across the country for two and a quarter months. Mohler and Rene Arseault co-founded Riot City, a production/writing group. Together they created, wrote and produced Conway, a Columbia Records recording artist. Riot City produced a version of Chic’s “I Want Your Love” with Lady Gaga as part of the 2015 Tom Ford campaign. Riot City is currently co-producing and writing Aimee Osbourne. She is the daughter of Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary drummer from Black Sabbath. Mohler was the hipster press darling’s Pom Poms, and he co-wrote and produced it. Pom Poms was voted one of the top 14 bands at the CMJ Festival 2015. Mohler has many other credits including writing, producing, and engineering.
