Blossom Dearie

Blossom Dearie (1926-1909) was an American jazz pianist and singer. Dearie was born in East Durham, New York on 28 April 1926. She is of mixed Scottish-Norwegian ancestry. She moved to Paris in the 1950s to form her own vocal group, The Blue Stars. Later, she would become The Swingle Singers. Dearie signed to Verve and returned to the U.S., where she had a successful career, achieved international fame, but was not interested in major labels. She started Daffodil Records, which is her own label. She performed until her eighties. Blossom Dearie, who died in Greenwich Village on February 7, 2009, was taken to her final resting place.
