Bob Gingery

Gingery is originally from San Francisco Bay, where he began playing the saxophone when he was 10. However, the sounds of James Jamerson and Rocco Prestia inspired him to take up the bass guitar. Soon he was playing in the jazz band at his high school and gigging with rock bands. He began learning the upright bass at age 18. He has performed with many of New York’s most renowned musicians, including Buddy Williams, Allan Harris and Ron Affif. He has performed at the Blue Note and Birdland, as well as the Hartford International Jazz Festival, Joe’s Pub, and the Knitting Factory. He is a band leader and sideman, and can perform and record with all styles of music.
