Bobby Jones

Bobby Jones, born October 30, 1928 in Louisville Kentucky and died March 6, 1980 in Munich. He was an American jazz saxophonist. Jones started playing drums at the age of eight and then switched to clarinet when he was 8. His father encouraged Jones to try jazz. He studied with Joe Allard and Charlie Parker. From 1949 to the mid-1950s, he played with Ray McKinley and then with Hal McIntyre. He rejoined McKinley in the latter part of the decade. He met Nat and Cannonball Adderley while serving in the Army. After his discharge, he continued to play country music and rock.
