Bokani Dyer was born in Gaborone Botswana, and he currently resides in Cape Town. He graduated from the SA College of Music’s 2008 graduation. To critical acclaim, he released two solo albums — Mirrors (Bokani Dyer) and Emancipate The Story (Emancipate The Story). He is currently working on 2 solo albums that will be released later in the year. Dyer received the Standard Bank Young Artist Award for Jazz in 2011. This award is given to young visionaries who have the potential to continue the legacy of South African Jazz.
