Booker T. Williams, Jr. was born in Seattle, Washington, on March 3, 1949. Drawing and sketching almost anything. At the age of 13, Booker fell in love with the saxophone and his art became secondary. After a number of years at Washington State University and University of Washington, Booker set off for NYC in 1974 to “chase music”. His passion for art is still evident in his life. Booker traveled extensively throughout Europe and Japan to improve his sax skills and gigged extensively in and around New York. Booker also recorded, gigged and jammed extensively with many notables such as Andrew Cyrille and Reggie Workman. Booker received a Photoshop 6 disk from one of his students in late 2005 while he was teaching saxophone lessons. Booker, a complete novice to Photoshop, began exploring its amazing possibilities. His artistic talent in drawing and sketching was not out of reach. Booker went through a period of insomnia in early 2006. Booker made some incredible breakthroughs in Photoshop and his art skills during this time. He was able to create his own unique way of rendering his art in a “magical” environment. Booker describes his work as DIGITAL PAINTTINGS with BOLD Textures and COLORS that “jump off the canvas and into you heart”. Booker T. has had his digital paintings featured in art shows in New Orleans, Baltimore, and New York City. Donna, his love and childhood friend, lives in Harlem in New York. Donna won the FIRST PRIZE in the 12th Annual Dramatic Reading Contest at Hostos Community College for her recitation of THE TWINS by H. S. Lee. A wonderful recital sponsored in part by The English – Speaking Union was a follow-up to the contest. Donna was invited by the organization to perform her award-winning recitation, THE TWINS, in NYC.
