Boris Savoldelli

Mark Murphy said that Boris is a “great proponent of simply outstanding singing.” Boris Savoldelli, a singer new to the music scene, is getting kudos all over the globe. His musical background, which includes classical studies and jazz, rock-funk, avant-garde experimental music, means that he is constantly challenging his “vocal instrument”. Mark Murphy, his jazz mentor, is one of his influences. Boris’ most memorable album, INSANOLOGY, was released in 2008. It is an experimental vocal solo project that he composed, arranged, and recorded with a looper machine. This CD represents Boris’ “light side”, which is the more melodic and accessible portion of his music. The album “Insanology”, received positive reviews from around the globe (Italy and USA, Brazil, France. UK, Holland. Russia. Germany, Israel. Arnaldo deSouteiro, a critic and producer (Herbie Hancock and John McLaughlin, Joao Gilberto), included “Insanology” on his 2008 list of the “Ten Best Vocal Jazz Albums.” He also placed Boris third in the category “Best Male Jazz Singers”, after Tony Bennet, Al Jarreau, and Tony Bennet. Boris was second on DeSouteiro’s 2009 list a year later. Boris was fourth in the “Best Male Jazz Singers” category on DeSouteiro’s poll. Boris also placed fourth on DeSouteiro’s 2011 cd “Biocosmopolitan”, which was on his “Ten Best Vocal Jazz Albums 2011” list. Arnaldo deSouteiro placed Boris at FIRST PLACE in the 2015 category of “Best Male Jazz Singers” (behind names like Kurt Elling and Tony Bennet) for his performance in “Electric Bat Conspiracy”, which was also on his “Ten Best Vocal Jazz Albums” list. Moonjune Records, based in New York, released Boris’ duo CD, PROTOPLASMIC with Elliott Sharp. This is a great example of Boris’ experimental and dark side. His first official video, “The Miss Kiss”, was released in April 2010. In March 2011, Moonjune Records, New York, released a new Boris’ Vocal Solo album titled BIOCOSMOPOLITAN. Special guests were the Italian trumpeter PAOLO FRESU (bassist) and JIMMY HASLIP (bassist). In October 2011, Boris’ first acclaimed album, Insanology was re-released by Moonjune Label. In late 2014, CNM (Creative Nation Music) released Boris’ new album in duo featuring Boston guitarist GARRISON FEWELL. The album is titled ELECTRIC BATC CONSPIRACY. On october 2nd 2015 Boris won the Sergey Esenin International Literature Award in Moscow for his project dedicated jazz poetry to Esenin. www.borisinger.eu
