After a busy year recording sideman work with Jose James and Cory Henry (kris Bowers), Brad Allen Williams, a rising guitarist, announces the release his debut LP Lamar. This album is a bold departure from the current fashion. Williams and his bandmates Tyshawn Sorey on drums and Pat Bianchi on Hammond organ, largely avoid overtly high concept or deliberate displays of technical or harmonic virtuosity. This album is all about creating and capturing an emotion. I think this can be seen in the music and musicians that were chosen, as well as the recording techniques used. Lamar’s all-analog approach is truly unique. This vinyl record will not have been touched by a computer. It was recorded in one room with all three of us using analog tape machines and an excellent analog engineer.
