Brad Whiteley

Brad Whiteley, a New York City-based musician, is versatile. Brad Whiteley is a versatile musician based in New York City. He plays the piano, organ and synthesizer and strives to honour music from a variety of styles and genres, with an emphasis on jazz, pop, and organ. He is grateful for his hectic schedule in New York City as well as abroad. He just completed a two-year tour as a keyboard player with Regina Spektor. Highlights included opening for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, as well as European, Australian and South American tours. He recently released “Pathless Land”, his first solo album, on Destiny Records. It features ten original compositions for piano and Hammond organ. Brad was born in Syracuse, New York. He began piano lessons when he was 4. His undergraduate degree was completed on a full tuition scholarship from DePauw University, which also included a semester in Vienna. Whiteley eventually received a Masters of Music and Performers certificate from Indiana University School of Music. He was trained as an artist by jazz legend David Baker and Edward Auer. While at Indiana University, he was presented with the Downbeat Student Music Award. Brad studied organ and piano with many musicians, including Fred Hersch and Jason Moran, Bill Cunliffe and Bill Cunliffe. Brad developed as an artist locally and internationally. He was accepted to the Henry Mancini Institute in Los Angeles on a full tuition scholarship. The Banff International Jazz Workshop in Alberta, Canada, Flaine Music Academy, Flaine, France, and the Aspen Music Festival in Aspen, CO., where he studied jazz and classical music. He has a wide range of talent and work that has been cultivated over the years from learning from some of the most respected musicians and teachers in the world. Whiteley is a talented jazz pianist and organist who has appeared on the stages of many NYC clubs. He has also performed as a pianist at Fat Cat, 55 Bar and Cornelia St Cafe. He has also performed as an organist at Smoke, Showman’s and The American Legion in Harlem. He has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including The Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Royal Albert Hall, The Konzerthaus in Vienna, The Sydney Opera House, and The Royal London Hall. He has been a sideman on many television programs, including Late Night with David Letterman and The Colbert Report, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Jay Leno, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Good Morning America. As a music director, his work has included Broadway singers Jeri Sgarr and Darius DeHaas as well as cabaret stars Sylvia McNair, Janice Martin, and America’s Got Talent winners The Texas Tenors. Brad is currently the music director and organist for Blessed Sacrament Church, Bronx. He has also taught piano at Shell Lake’s Piano School and Interlochen Summer Music Camp. His dedication to music education and his own growth as a musician is crucial to his virtuosic performance and his longevity in the industry.
