Brendan Keller-tuberg

Brendan Keller-Tuberg, a young composer and bassist from Canberra, Australia is a rising musician. He graduated from the Australian National University in 2018 and has been a regular performer in the area. He has played with Miroslav Bukovsky as well as Dave Eggar, Dave Eggar, Christian Howes, and Paul Grabowsky. For his performances with various jazz ensembles and the Canberra Experimental Music Studio, he was awarded First Prize and People’s Choice in 2016 and 2014 ANU Chamber Music Competitions. He released his debut album of original compositions for piano trio in August 2017. It featured ANU alumni Tate Sheridan, and Daniel Faber. The album was released at the Street Theatre in Canberra to sold-out audiences and was later featured on ABC Jazz. Geoff Page, who wrote for BMA Magazine, praised the album and stated that “judg[ing]] from this new, emblematic CD by Brendan Keller-Tuberg (young local bassist) is far from exhausting.” It was one of BMA Magazine’s top releases in 2017. Brendan was in America from 2018 to March 2020 to complete a masters degree through Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He performed with Emmet Cohen, Dayna Stevens, Dayna Stephans, Greg Ward and John Raymond. He traveled to New York with the IU’s Wallarab Jazz Ensemble in January 2020 to compete in Jack Rudin Jazz Championship. They placed 2nd out of ten of the best jazz programs in America. Brendan, a 2019 Freedman Jazz Fellowship nominee, is highly sought after as both a leader and sideman. Crossroads Quintet’s debut album, “Intertwined”, was released in May 2020 by Midwest Crush Music. He can also be heard on Amanda Gardier’s latest release, “Flyover Country”. Brendan is also 2021 Composer-in-Residence for WAYJO (West Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra). Brendan is currently a doctoral student at Indiana University and an Associate Instructor at Jacobs School of Music.
