Bria Skonberg

New York-based trumpeter/vocalist/songwriter Bria Skonberg has been performing since the age of 7. She is originally from Chilliwack in BC Canada. Since then, she has been a guest artist and bandleader all across North America, Europe and China. She is best known for her love of jazz and her pursuit of global fun. Her unique style is rooted in swampy New Orleans, blues, and swing with pop and world music influences. She has performed in New York’s Symphony Space, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Birdland, and Birdland since her arrival. Other performers include Bucky Pizzarelli and Nicholas Payton, Wycliffe Gordon and Howard Alden. As a strong advocate for young musicians, she serves as a teacher and clinician at many venues and band camps, as well as programming, narrating, and performing educational shows for students in grades K-12. Bria served on the Chilliwack Jazz Festival’s Board of Directors. Bria’s debut album “SO IS THE YEAR” was released by Random Act Records in April 2012. This session features her original songs, arrangements, and musical luminaries Wycliffe Gordon, Victor Goines, and John Pizzarelli. from
