Brooklyn Raga Massive

Brooklyn Raga Massive, a 501c3 charity, is an open platform for Raga music lovers, artists and listeners, to experience the rhythm of NYC’s Indian Classical music scene. BRM was officially made a non-profit in 2015 It was founded in Prospect Heights in 2012 as a music collective. The weekly Jam Session and Weekly Concert Series featured traditional and raga-inspired music, followed by an open jam session. This weekly event has been a success over the years. It has fostered a vibrant community of music lovers and musicians, as well as opened doors to cross-cultural collaboration. BRM’s weekly jam sessions have been a great way to build a community and foster new genres and collaborations in music. BRM hosts over 70 events annually, including the weekly concert series as well as other performances. BRM has enjoyed enthusiastic support from top presenting venues and organizations such as the World Music Institute and Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center and MOMA, The Met and India Center Foundation, Brooklyn Arts Museum and Celebrate Brooklyn, BRIC and Jazz Gallery, Pioneer Works and Joe’s Pub, Shapeshifter, The Rubin Museum and Yerba Buena Gardens. Brooklyn Raga Massive also co-produces Ragas Live, an annual 24-hour music festival in New York featuring Raga-inspired music and Indian classical music. It is broadcast live on 89.9 FM-NY radio, and internationally via WKCR.org.
