Bryan Carter is a confident musician who demonstrates a compositional and instrumental maturity that belies his age. This confidence will help him to have a successful career. After completing his training at The Juilliard School, New York City, Carter was already playing and/or recording with many well-known artists, including Clark Terry and Branford Marsalis. His deep respect for jazz and ability to create music that is authentically connected to this rich heritage are not surprising. Carter began playing the drums at three years old. He quickly became passionate about jazz music and developed a passion for it. At the age of 11, he had already been studying with legend drummers Louie Bellson and Harold Jones. Carter studied Jazz Studies at The Juilliard School and was a student of Kenny Washington and Carl Allen. Carter was awarded the Irene Diamond Scholarship and the Samuel L Jackson Scholarship. Carter was a keen student of composition, orchestration, and interdivisional cross collaboration while at Juilliard. Carter was a young artist and had access to many outlets that allowed him to perform at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and The Staples Center. He continues to perform in clubs, festivals, and concert halls all over the globe. In May 2011, the Bryan Carter Quintet’s first CD, “Enchantment”, was released. “Enchantment”, peaked at the top 15 on the Jazz Week Radio Charts as well as the CMJ Jazz Charts. Carter is also a performer and has led master classes, workshops, and clinics at colleges, universities, and schools around the globe.
