Buell Neidlinger

Buell Neidlinger was a cellist, bassist, and educator who played in a variety of jazz styles. He died at his Whidbey Island home on Friday, March 17, 2018. He was just two weeks old when he died. He was most well-known for his collaboration with Cecil Taylor, pianist from 1956 to 1961. He recorded often with Archie Shepp, Steve Lacy, and Roswell Rudd as well as trombonist Roswell Rudd. He was also a member of a trio with pianist Herbie Nicks. He was also the accompanying bassist for Tony Bennett’s 1962 hit “I Left My Heart In San Francisco”.
