Calambuco’s first opus was a revelation. It was one of the leaders in the “new colombian salsa” movement. A Cuban orchestra that has a 70’s bestial sound and is heavy… even though they all hail from Bogota. The album was produced by Maurice Castillo, a singer and trumpet player (singer of Grupo Niche), and Jose Aguirre, former director of Grupo Niche. Jaime Henao is the guest-featuring the maestro» on trumpet. “Como en el barrio” tells the story about a dozen young people’s daily lives in Bogota. The album was released in 2006 and quickly became a hit with all the cds. Calambuco’s music is now available in all corners of the globe, from Japan to Mexico to Miami to Munich. from http://www.sabaprod.com
