Carla White

Carla Ruth White, September 15, 1951 – May 9, 2007, was an American jazz singer. White was born in Oakland in California, but she was raised in New York where she studied jazz dancing. She began acting and singing in high school. From 1969 to 1971, she studied at the Webber-Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. After a while she traveled, she studied under Lennie Tristano as well as Warne Marsh. She met Manny Duran, a trumpeter, in late 1970s and they co-led a band that recorded for Stash Records. She sang the theme song “Can’t Say Goodbye To Yesterday” for Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Her scat singing skills were well-known. After a long battle against cancer, Carla passed away peacefully in her New York home on May 9, 2007. From Wikipedia
