Cathy Segal Garcia, a Boston native, has loved jazz since she was five years old. She would listen to Ella Fitzgerald while listening to it with her dad, Mike Segal, and spend time with him (sax player Mike Segal). She was raised by her musical parents and siblings. She began playing flute at age 10 and went on to have many musical experiences. When she was 12, she began singing with her father’s bands. She also sang with her older sisters. She was 12 when she began singing with her dad’s bands. Later, she joined special choral groups and orchestras.
