Born and raised in Stavanger (13 July 1991), Cecilie Grundt is now 33. Her family loved jazz music and she was exposed to it from an early age by her parents. It’s no wonder that she started playing alto saxophone when she was nine years old. While she was taking lessons at Stavanger Performing Arts School in Norway, she also played in various marching bands where she performed soloist. Cecilie began playing the alto and the soprano saxophones at the age of 14 before she became obsessed with the tenor at age 16. Cecilie listened to more jazz recordings and began to play along with them. Jan Garbarek, John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins were her primary influences. from www.ceciliegrundt.com
