Two albums were released by the German post-bop quintet. Peter Weiss, Wolfgang Engstfeld founded the company. Engstfeld, Wolfgang (Antonius Franz), tenor saxophone, composer; b. Dusseldorf, Germany, 12 September 1950. His parents were Ursula Engstfeld/Huck 1918/2001 and Dr. Franz Engstfeld 1914/1965. His siblings were Hans, Susanne and Ulrich. Wolfgang started playing the saxophone when he was 14. He began playing saxophone at the age of 14. Engstfeld was awarded several first prizes at the Roermond Festival and San Sebastian Festivals, as well as the highly coveted New Talent Prize from Dusseldorf. He formed “Jazztrack” with Uli Beckerhoff (trumpet player), Sigi Busch (bassist), and Heinrich Hock (drummer). This was Mr. Engstfeld’s first recording. In 1978, his next major projects were the quintet “Changes”, which had a profound influence on subsequent generations of the German jazz scene. Also, the “Wolfgang Engstfeld Michel Herr Quartet” with drummer Leroy Lowe, Isla Eckinger, and Detlev Beier, which featured bassists Palle Danisson, Isla Eckinger, and Detlev Beier. Weiss, Peter, drums; b. Delve, Germany, 13 April 1949. He was born in Dusseldorf and studied at the Robert Schumann Conservatory. He has been a jazz musician for more than 30 years. His father is Hermann Weiss, born in Memel(Klaipeda), Lithuania, his mother is Adele Brenneisen,b.Lithuania. His cousin is the first violinist with the “Vienna Philamonics”. He has performed with Uli Beckerhoff and Christoph Spendel as well as musicians such as Jarmo Hoogendijk and Jarmo Read, Zbigeniew Namyslowski and Jarmo Hoogendijk. http://www.jazz.com
