Charenée Wade

Charenee Wade, who was first runner-up in the 2010 Thelonious Monk International Vocal Competition is a well-known singer, composer, arranger, and educator. She received her degree at the Manhattan School of Music. She was a recipient of Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead Program, where she performed original music at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. She was also one of four talented performers chosen for the Dianne REEVES Young Artist Workshop at Carnegie Hall. She was also 1st Runner Up in the Jazzmobile Vocal Competition. And she was selected for the JAS Academy Summer Sessions 2007-09, which Christian McBride directed. Charenee is currently an instructor at the Aaron Copland School of Music and the Jazzmobile Workshop program. Charenee teaches workshops and clinics. She was also a distinguished judge in the Jazzmobile Vocal Competition 2010. Charenee performs all over the world and graces the Jazz Gallery, Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Dizzy Coca Cola’s, the legendary Smalls, and the Zinc Bar in NYC.
