Chiara Pancaldi

Chiara Pancaldi was raised in Bologna in the North of Italy. At the age of 10, she began classical piano lessons. She has been singing since childhood. Soon, she became interested in jazz and began to sing along to the music with her friends. Chiara graduated in 2008 from University of Bologna with a Master’s Degree. She then went on to graduate from Conservatory of Bologna with a Master’s Degree Jazz Music in 2012. She has attended workshops with many great artists, including Rachel Gould and Michele Hendricks. She also studied Drupad, an Indian Classical Music form, for several years in Italy with Francesca Cassio, and in Varanasi (India), with Ritwick Sanyal. Chiara has performed at festivals and clubs in Italy and abroad, including Umbria Jazz Festivals, CrossRoads Jazz Festivals, Sunset Sunside Jazz Clubs, Jazzkeller Jazz Clubs, Jazzkeller Jazz Clubs, Porgy and Bess Jazz Clubs, Unterfahrt Jazz Clubs, Teatro Giordano and Varanasi (India) with Ritwick Sanyal. Many great American and Italian jazz musicians have performed with her, including Cyrus Chestnut and Joe Farnsworth, Darryl Hall and Kirk Lightsey. Her debut album, THE SONG IS YOU, was released in 2012 by the Italian label DODICILUNE. She released her second album, “I WALK A LITTLE FASTER” in 2015. Chiara performed alongside a great trio: Cyrus Chestnut, John Webber, and Joe Farnsworth, on piano. The dutch label Challenge Records released the record. Jazz Critique Magazine awarded the album Best Vocal Jazz Album 2015. The legendary Kirk Lightsey plays piano, and Darryl Hall plays bass on her last album WHAT IS THERE to SAY (Challenge Records International).
