Chicago Jazz Philharmonic

The Chicago Jazz Philharmonic (CJP), was created out of an invitation from Orbert Davis, the Jazz Institute of Chicago’s Artistic Director, to “think big” in planning his appearance at Chicago Jazz Festival 2004. The festival was the first time that a Chicago Jazz artist had headlined the festival. It also featured a 55-piece jazz ensemble. This performance was unlike any Chicago Jazz Festival had ever seen. The Chicago Jazz Philharmonic has had an impact on audiences as diverse as its artists; it now boasts 42,000 members and growing. from www.chicagojazzphilharmonic.org
