Chip Shelton

Chip Shelton is a multi-instrumentalist who performs on flutes, saxophones, vocals, percussion, and more. While studying jazz flute at the Manhattan School of Music, he also studied classically with Julius Baker, the “dean of American flutists”. He has 8 critically-acclaimed recordings and 3 new releases planned for 2020-21. He is based in New York City. Shelton’s own sub-genre, “Romance Jazz”, is a crafted jazz genre that focuses on meaningful themes in life. It has a personal and intimate quality. His 2020 CD, “Plan Be Dream Music”, was inspired by his personal life story of balancing two careers as a professional musician and an orthodontist (Ret.). His 1st book, Excel in Two Careers…Plan be(tm) Your Dream” is also included. He is the leader of three active ensembles, The Chip Shelton PeaceTime Ensemble and The New York Jazz Flutet. Many top musicians have performed with him, including Ron Carter and Roy Ayers, Donny Hayaway, Peter Bernstein and Louis Hayes. from
