Chris Dave was born in Houston Texas. He began his musical career in late 1980s. He began his musical career playing in the church. Jazz music is what he credits as his greatest influence. Although his father plays the drums, he claims he has never seen him actually play. He was exposed to jazz legends Miles Davis and John Coltrane as a teenager while listening to music with his dad. Chris Dave was a natural drummer and eventually graduated from Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. He attended Howard University in Washington D.C., where he met legendary producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Chris Dave began his professional career working with R after this relationship.
