His career as a Trumpeter Chris Pasin spans from his studies at New England Conservatory to touring with various artists to the Hudson Valley music scene and recording scene where he currently lives. He has performed at the Apollo Theater and the Royal Albert Hall, as well as the Village Vanguard, Ronnie Scott’s and the Blue Note. His influences and performances as a student were Gunther Schuller and Jaki Byard, George Russell and Jimmy Giuffre. This included performances at Village Vanguard with George Russell New York’s band. Many years later, he spent time on the Buddy Rich bus, touring the US and the world as the jazz trumpet soloist. During this time, performances with Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, Mel Torme (Sarah Vaughn), Ray Charles, and Sarah Vaughn were also possible. After many years of touring, he settled in New York City for a decade. He spent five years with the Toshiko Aikiyoshi/Lew Tabackin band and Brother Jack McDuff. There were also several other major salsa bands and a number of New York-based musicians. In 1987, Chris released his first CD, “Detour Ahead”, with Steve Slagle and Rufus Reid. Chris still writes music today, many decades later. His last CD, “Random Acts of Kindness”, was entirely composed of his own compositions. The most recent album, “Ornettiquette”, features music by and inspired By Ornette Coleman, and Don Cherry.
