Jacarei is a dance-music group that was founded in 1959. Nelsinho Marreli (Nelson Attilio) was the leader of the group. Oswaldo Damiao, aka Giba, was the bassist and musical director. Carioca was the percussionist. Before launching his solo career, Messias Santos Jr. was also a member of the band in those early years.
