Daniel Aaron Rosenboom (b. 5/7/1982) is an artist, composer, improviser, and trumpet player who strives to break musical boundaries through fusing different styles in innovative ways. He has created an unrivalled and captivating music by combining the sounds and styles of contemporary classical music, creative improvised and jazz with experimental electronic and traditional folk music from North India, North India and the Middle East. He has received grants and awards from ASCAP and the Yvar Mikhashoff Trust for New Music as well as the American Composers Forum and the Meet the Composer foundation for his compositions. On Nine Winds Records, Rosenboom’s debut solo CD, Bloodier, Mean Son, was released in 2006. It features world-premiere recordings and new works for solo trumpet or electronics. In 2007, his gypsy-jazz-metal band, PLOTZ!, released their debut CD, Extraordinary Renditions, and in early 2008, his improvising experimental-jazz-metal band DR. MiNT released their debut album, Visions and Nightmares, on the pfMENTUM label. Rosenboom’s Book of Riddles was released in early 2009 along with PLOTZ!’s Live 2008 and DR. MINT’s A New Symphony, both on SNP Records. Rosenboom, as both a performer, and co-producer, was featured on his father’s 2009 album, How Much Better if Plymouth Rock Had Landed On the Pilgrims. PLOTZ was launched in 2010. PLOTZ! was released in 2010. As a soloist and as a collaborator, he has performed at festivals and recitals at the International Trumpet Guild annual conference, University of York in England, the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles. He has performed with orchestras and chamber groups on stages such as the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Berlin Philharmonie, Opera City, Tokyo, and the Hollywood Bowl. He is a regular performer with the PLOTZ!, DR. MiNT and the Vinny Golia Sextet. He is also a member the Industrial Jazz Group Killsonic, Orkestar Mieze, Robby Marshall’s RootSystem and GG’s Concert NineNet. He is a freelance artist in Los Angeles and has been recorded by and heard on ABC, ESPN and BMG. The Collage Dance Theatre, Heidi Duckler, Wadada Leo Smith’s Silver Orchestra, Vinny Golia Large Ensemble and the Los Angeles Trumpet Quartet (with John Fumo and Jeff Kaiser), VR with guitarist David Veslocki and Irmin Schmidt, CAN, Kai Kurosawa and the Grande Mothers of Invention. For his Bachelor of Music degree, Daniel studied at Eastman School of Music under master pedagogue James Thompson. He holds a Master of Music from UCLA, where he studied trumpet with Jens Lindemann. A Master of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts, where he studied alongside Edward Carroll, Vinny Gould, John Fumo and Wadada Lee Smith.
