Danny Gottlieb

Danny Gottlieb is a versatile and skilled drummer who studied with Joe Morello and Mel Lewis. After graduating from University of Miami (1975), Gottlieb did session work in Miami Beach. Gottlieb was a member of Gary Burton’s Quartet (1976), during which Pat Metheny was still the guitarist. Gottlieb was a charter member of the group formed by Metheny in 1977-1983. He formed a band in 1981 with Metheny’s bassist Mark Egan, which was later called Elements. Since then, he has worked in many different settings, including with John McLaughlin (1984), and Al DiMeola (1985). Gottlieb plays part-time with Elements. Allmusic
