Daryl Sherman, singer/pianist and a mainstay of Manhattan’s nightlife scene, is equally at home in jazz and cabaret. She is internationally acclaimed for her 14-year-long run at Waldorf=Astoria. She played Cole Porter’s Steinway and headlined the Cole Porter Festival in Peru, Indiana. Mississippi Belle, her latest CD, celebrates Porter in New Orleans. Daryl has been a favourite at the Algonquin Oak Room. (Village Voice) Feinstein’s at Regency, Rose Hall, Wynton Marsalis and Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Dizzy’s Coca Cola, Dizzy’s Coca Cola, 59E59 Theaters featuring Vince Giordano, and The Nighthawks have all been places where Daryl is a regular. Daryl’s New York experience began with stints at Sinatra hangouts such as Jilly’s, Eddie Condon’s, Michael’s Pub and Knickerbokcer. She’s also been to Shangahi jazz, Shangahi Jazz and Iridium since her arrival. Sherman’s recordings are regularly featured on Cable TV’s Music Choice, Sirius/XM Radios, BBC Radios and Jazz FM Berlin. Her Johnny Mercer Centennial CD was awarded MAC “Best Major Recording”. Clint Eastwood produced the track. Sherman was a frequent guest on Marian McPartland’s NPR Piano Jazz. She was also featured on BBC Radio’s Johnny Mercer Tribute. She was Artistic Director of the 92nd St Y’s Lirics.
