David Darling

David Darling, born March 3, 1941 in Elkhart (Indiana), and died January 8, 2021 at Goshen. He was an American composer and cellist who won the Grammy Award. Darling was a member of the Grammy Award-winning Paul Winter Consort in 1970. He made Nashville, TN his home. He was the assistant principal cellist of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. Darling also worked in Nashville as a session player. The Consort was his main focus. ECM Records released his first solo album, Journal October, in 1980. In 1987, he left The Paul Winter Consort to pursue his solo career. He also worked with Terje Rypdal, Ketil Bjornstad and other ECM artists. His 2001 album, “Cello Blue”, was nominated to a Grammy Award. For his 2009 album “Prayer For Compassion,” he won the Best New Age Album award. Discogs
