Since its inception in 2010, Dee Byrne’s quintet is steadily building its own dynamic sound. Dee Byrne places a lot of importance on improvisation. His compositions allow for deep communication and high interaction among the band members. The group juggles order and chaos, composition, and improvisation. They take listeners on an exciting journey that includes strong themes, interplay between the members, open-ended improvisations, dark grooves, and interwoven melodic textures. Dee Byrne is the alto saxophonist and composer, and also acts as bandleader. Also, Andre Canniere, Rebecca Nash, Matt Fisher, and Olie Brice are keyboardists. The band has been performing together live for some time and has developed a remarkable empathy and willingness to take risks. The quintet’s first album, ‘New Era’ was released in June 2015 by F-IRE label. Its second album, ‘Moment Frozen’ was released in September 2017 by Whirlwind Recordings.
