Diane Schuur

Diane Schuur was born in Tacoma Washington. She has been praised by many famous musicians like Dizzy Gillespie and Count Basie. King. Schuur is well-known for her remarkable three-and-a half octave vocal range. Her extraordinary career began at nine years old with her first professional gigs, including one at the Holiday Inn. Schuur, 16, was still attending Washington State School for the Blind and performing original material. Her unique voice and playful personality wowed audiences while she was still in school. In 1975, Schuur made her Monterey Jazz Festival debut. After seeing her perform at the Festival, Stan Getz became a huge fan and mentor. The rest is history. Schuur is now a legend. Schuur has been nominated five times and won two GRAMMY(r), Awards for “Best Jazz Singer.” She also headlined some of the most important music venues in the world, such as Carnegie Hall. Schuur has toured all over the globe and performed with greats like Stan Getz, B.B. King, Maynard Ferguson and Ray Charles were among her many performances.
