Dida, an Israeli guitarist and singer based in New York, has a special talent for storytelling. It doesn’t matter if it is a jazz tune, a blistering blues number or an old country song, Dida sings with a voice that’s playful, warm and resonant. With perfect diction, charm, and a great voice, she sings the words. She gives them meaning and weight. (Jazz Hot France) Fabio Morgera, a trumpet player and producer, was one of the first to notice Dida’s talents and promise. He put together her first recording project. “Dida plays and sings” was released by the Italian label “Red Records” in 2011. It features Roy Hargrove, Gregory Hutchinson and two of the most prominent jazz musicians today. “All About Jazz” voted the album one of the top albums of 2011. It stated that “Pelled’s warm voice is both soothing and intoxicating.” Her guitar playing, which is built around her round sound, strong comping abilities and soulful single-note solo lines, puts her in a class of her own. (All About Jazz). Dida recently graduated from The New School’s Jazz Department with high honors. She was then able shift her attention to recording the music she had accumulated with Tal Ronen. It is a cohesive, eclectic statement that covers Dida’s wide range of musical interests.
